Ampere A1 (VM.Standard.A1.Flex): the first 1,500 OCPU hours and 9,000 GB hours each month are free, which Oracle says equals 2 OCPUs and 12 GB of memory.
Many guides still quote the old 4 OCPU / 24 GB allowance. That figure is out of date.
Two AMD VM.Standard.E2.1.Micro instances are also part of Always Free.
Free capacity is often out of stock in popular regions.
Official signup credit is $5 for 90 days; the $200 referral amount is not in DigitalOcean docs
DigitalOcean docs (last verified by DigitalOcean on 15 Jul 2026): creating your first team applies a $5 signup credit automatically, no promo code; it expires 90 days after signup and you must add a payment method before creating Droplets.
The referral-program docs say a referred user receives "the standard signup credit". Neither page, nor the referral page we checked on 2026-10-10, states the widely quoted $200 / 60 days.
Some third-party coupon sites still advertise $200 for 60 days via referral links. Treat that as unconfirmed and check the credit shown in your account after signup.
